Lauryn Hill has been in the media lately after being charged with tax evasion. The once prominent singer didn't file tax returns between 2005 and 2007 even though she earned $1.8 million during that period.

Despite the fact that she claimed she hadn't been paying her taxes because she was being threatened, the judge still wants her to pay up. Though he's given her until May 6 to start paying back the bill.

Lauryn's solution? Signing a record deal with Sony. In order to receive the $1 million promised in the deal (which will go towards paying back her debts) Hill is required to record five new songs. Additional money will be thrown her way if she decides to write an entire new album.
