Music lovers browsing record store shelves this weekend may find a surprise from the hip-hop trio De La Soul.
Just in time for Saturday's Record Store Day, the group is hiding 100 vinyl copies of an instrumental version of its latest mixtape Smell the Da.I.S.Y. at record stores across North America and the United Kingdom.
Apart from the eleven J Dilla-produced tracks on Smell the Da.I.S.Y., the vinyl will also include an additional J Dilla beat that has never been heard before.
De La Soul is hoping the limited edition release replicates the experience that groups like A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul had when they worked with the late producer.
The group is giving away clues to the locations of the vinyl on their website, WeAreDeLaSoul.com.
