A West Side bike path in New York (Lower Manhattan) became a killing trail on Tuesday leaving many dead and injured. The attacker is 29-year-old Sayfullo Saipov.
"This was an act of terror, and a particularly cowardly act of terror, aimed at innocent civilians" said New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio during a press conference. He said it targeted people "going about their lives who had no idea what was about to hit them."
Officials from New York announced eight people are dead and 13 people are injured. Among the people the people who died were five tourists from Argentina who traveled to New York to celebrate their high school 30th graduation anniversary.
According to ABC 7 News, Saipov left behind a note handwritten in Arabic that stated he acted on behalf of ISIS, according to investigators who say they found that note near the truck he'd rented in New Jersey an hour before the attack.
