The Verdict is IN...

UPDATE:

The jury has reached a verdict.

Jason van Dyke is charged and convicted of the following:

  • Guilt of second degree murder
  • Guilty of aggravated battery with a firearm of all 16 shots
  • Not guilty of official misconduct

His lawyer has asked for a bond review.

Judge says bail will be revoked. He will order a pre sentence investigation.

October 31, 2018 will be the sentence hearing.

Closing arguments are scheduled to begin Thursday morning in the murder trial of Chicago Police Officer Jason Van Dyke.

Once closing arguments wrap up this morning, the jury will get the case, and it's anyone's guess how long they will take to deliberate.

Officer Van Dyke is accused of first degree murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald, who had a small knife in his hand the night he was killed.
