According to authorities, 2 yr-old, Ja’hir Gibbons, was beaten to death by his mother and her boyfriend. Dejon Waters, 21, faces one count of first-degree murder, while Brittany Hyc, 28, faces a felony count of endangering the life of a child, according to Chicago police. Yesterday at 6:50pm, Chicago Police were called about a unresponsive child at 6000 South Prairie. When they arrived on the scene they found Ja'hir who had bruises all over his body and sores. He was rushed to Comer Hospital and pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Ja'hir's brother who is 5 yrs-old was also bruised and covered in sores was hospitalized. Water's admitted to beating the child and causing his death. This is not the first time he beat Ja'hir and the mother was under investigation by DCFS as a result. DCFS was just in the home on Monday! JUST TERRIBLE!!
