There are more than 5000 unsolved murder cases waiting on DNA results that are backlogged! Lawmakers are outraged and demanding that something be done. 50 of those 5000+ unsolved murders were by strangulation which could be the work of a serial killer on the lose but we will never know until the results are known.
A hearing was held on March 25, and Illinois State Police said they hope new measures will reduce the backlog–like increased staffing and t new technology. There are 5,121 cases pending DNA testing. The backlog includes 2,298 sexual assaults and 658 murder cases. WOW!
