Colombian Man Busted Trying To Smuggle $34,000 Of Cocaine Under His Toupee

Man accused of smuggling cocaine under his toupee

Spanish authorities arrested a Colombian man after he attempted to smuggle cocaine into the country by hiding it under his toupee. The man, who has not been identified, was busted at Barcelona's international airport after officials noticed his ill-fitting toupee.

They pulled him aside and asked him to remove his hairpiece. When he did, they found a "perfectly sealed package taped to his head" containing 1.1 pounds of cocaine, which is worth around $34,000.

"There is no limit to the inventiveness of drug traffickers trying to mock controls," the Spanish National Police said in a statement.

The suspected drug smuggler was charged with a public health violation. It is unclear if he remains in custody or if he has been convicted.
