A Florida nurse is being hailed as a hero for saving the life of a driver who crashed into her house. A surveillance camera captured a minivan driving over the sidewalk then crossing the street before it rammed into the side of her home.
“I thought someone was parking in my house and all the sudden he just, 'boom!' Hit my house,” Carmen Roman told Fox 35.
The minivan crashed into the wall of her bathroom, putting a large hole next to the toilet. Roman ran outside to check on the driver and found him unresponsive behind the wheel.
The man had no pulse and was not breathing, so she began to perform CPR.
"I gave him 30 compressions," she said. "A couple of seconds after [I started] he came back alive."
The driver was helped out of his vehicle and was able to walk on his own. Officials are investigating the cause of the crash and have not said if the driver will face any charges.
Roman says that she is happy that she was able to save the man's life.
"It feels awesome. My kids are so proud; they're like 'momma's a hero,'" she said. "If I'm in the moment, and I know I can do something, I will react. Like I said, I just love to help people."
