Hometurf Next to Blow: Avehre

Born Brandon Avery Smith in Germany, but raised in Chicago, IL, Avehre (ah-veer) is among the newest voices to make an unimaginable imprint on the ever-changing music industry.

At a young age, Avehre’s musical print began in the Church and later on with much appreciation and inspiration by artists like Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Luther Vandross and his mentor Gladys Knight, he than developed his own unique design for the soulfulness of R&B.

Avehre has made a phenomenal name for himself by opening up for acts like renowned Gospel artists Fred Hammond, Vickie Winans, Tina Campbell (of MaryMary) and Michelle Williams (of Destiny’s Child). In 2012, he was introduced to Grammy Award-winning “Empress of Soul” Ms. Gladys Knight. Not only did he captivate her with his talented gift of singing, he was hired to tour with her as a background vocalist and has been featured performing by her side numerous of times, making for his exposure and evolution as an artist even greater.

In 2014 with Gladys Knight’s team, he released his debut holiday EP Star Filled Sky and accomplished in co-writing and vocally produce Knight’s 2015 track “Just A Little” which is the lead single from her twelfth studio album, officially marking Avehre as the legendary singer’s protégé and cementing him as a rising artist in R&B.

Apart from being an incredible songwriter for artist such as Lloyd and Samantha Mumba, he is currently producing the anticipated first solo independent album to be released by the legendary R&B singer Wanya Morris.

Presently Avehre is working on his debut EP for 2020 and continues to prove to be an unstoppable force. Producer, performer, songwriter are some of the descriptions of his innovativeness and determination which will make his imprint a lasting presence in every musical genre he touches.
