It is being reported that Cicely Tyson has passed away at the age of 96.
Emmy and Tony award winning, Hollywood legend, Cicely Tyson died on Thursday afternoon.
Throughout her acting career, Tyson refused to play drug addicts, maids, or roles that were demeaning to Black women.
Larry Thompson, Tyson's manager spoke highly of the late actress, “I have managed Miss Tyson’s career for over 40 years, and each year was a privilege and blessing”.
At Oprah's Legend's Ball in 2005, Cicely was recognized as one of 25 women spotlighted for her contributions to art, entertainment, and most importantly civil rights.
Tyson was known to be feisty through her 90s. She will be missed!
