NYC Senators Looking To Have Rap Lyrics Limited As Evidence In Court

Could rap lyrics soon be banned in court as evidence? Two New York Senators are looking to make that happen very soon! They say that in order to allow true creative expression, artists must be free of fear that their own lyrics can be used against them.

Sen. Bran Hoylman and Sen. Jamaal Baily of New York City introduced the legislation as “rap music on trial” to the Senate.

Now with this they mention that lyrics won’t be off limits completely but rather prosecutors would really have solid evidence that the lyrics are indeed factual.
