CPD Moves Majority Tactical Officers To Patrol Cars Causing Major Backlash

The Chicago Police Department is facing major backlash after making a decision to move over half of the tactical team over to patrol cars.

The department noted that with recent retirement, Covid cases and other extraneous circumstances, they needed more officers in neighborhoods, assisting with businesses and responding to emergency calls.

While some may see this as a good thing, many believe that it won’t do anything but cause more problems and over policing.

CPD also noted that they hope that this change will help to lower violence rates across the city and lead to new positive change.
