Eminem has a clever trick up his sleeve ahead of his forthcoming album.
On Tuesday night, May 28, the Detroit rapper posted a eye-popping teaser for his upcoming single "Houdini." In the video, Em hits up famed magician David Blaine in a FaceTime call and asks for some assistance from the "greatest to ever do it."
“Yo, listen, I need your help with something,” Eminem says. "What I was wondering is, how far can we go with this magic? Can we do a stunt or something?”
Blaine agrees and replies by gulping down a glass of red wine and taking a bite out of it, but Em had a different idea in mind.
“Well for my last trick,” Em replies, “I’m gonna make my career disappear.”
The response shocked Blaine as well as other loyal Stans who're eagerly waiting for the seasoned rapper's 12th studio album. Eminem's upcoming project has been in the works for quite some time. A few months ago, Dr. Dre confirmed Em's plan to release the follow-up to his 2020 album Music To Be Murdered By this year.
"He has an album coming out," Dre told Jimmy Kimmel. "I’ve got songs on it and it’s fire. I’m actually gonna hear the entire album for the first time for tomorrow. And he holds his music close to his chest so I haven’t heard everything. I haven’t even heard everything complete that I’ve done, but I’m gonna hear it, and he’s putting out an album this year.”
The 51-year-old artist remained silent about his plans until the end of April when he announced The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) in a faux commercial for a murder documentary. According to a recent obituary, the real Slim Shady experienced "a sudden and horrific end." The exact release date hasn't been confirmed, but fans can expect to receive the album this summer.
Look out for "Houdini" dropping on May 31.
