Paris Jackson Calls Out Michael Jackson Biopic Director

Paris Jackson has publicly criticized director Antoine Fuqua for allegedly profiting off her family's legacy with the upcoming biopic Michael. The film, which chronicles the life of Michael Jackson, is set to premiere on Friday (April 24) and features Jaafar Jackson, Michael's nephew, in the lead role. Paris, Michael's daughter, expressed her concerns on social media, stating she provided feedback on the script that was ignored.

"They’re gonna make whatever they’re gonna make. The big reason why I haven’t said anything up until this point is because I know a lot of you guys are gonna be happy with it," Paris said per People. "The film panders to a very specific section of my dad’s fandom that still lives in a fantasy, and they’re gonna be happy with it."

"The thing about these biopics is it’s Hollywood. It’s fantasy land — it’s not real," said Paris. "But it’s sold to you as real, and a lot of sugar-coated… the narrative is being controlled. There’s a lot of inaccuracy and there’s a lot of full-blown lies. At the end of the day, that doesn’t really fly with me. I don’t really like dishonesty."

The film has sparked mixed reactions within the Jackson family. While Prince Jackson, Michael's eldest son, served as an executive producer and was actively involved in the film's development, his siblings Bigi and Paris Jackson were not. Prince was "on set every day," according to The Hollywood Reporter. Meanwhile, Janet Jackson, Michael's sister, declined to participate in the project, a decision respected by her sister La Toya Jackson, who praised Jaafar's performance.
