Fat Joe and Remy Ma are back with a fresh banger for the summer.
On Friday, July 12, the Terror Squad duo dropped their new collaboration "Outta Control" produced by Cool & Dre and 808 Ray. Joey Crack kicks off his braggadocio verse by boasting about his cartel connections and disregarding the haters. After he bounces from Starlets in New York City to Bobby Trap in Miami, Joe closes out by paying homage to the late OJ Simpson. Following the "Summertime" sample in the chorus, Remy Ma follows up with her own gritty rhymes about living life on the edge — so don't push her.
The song comes a couple of days after Fat Joe confirmed the plans for his next album. During an interview with TMZ, Joe saluted other seasoned MC's like LL COOL J, Common, Pete Rock, Nas, DJ Premier, and others who are dropping new music this year. After he declared all of them will be classics, he revealed the news about his own album arriving in 2024.
“Breaking news: Fat Joe be dropping a[n] album in August, too, so put me in that list of pioneers and legends and icons,” he said.
It's been a minute since Fat Joe dropped an album. The last time he released a formal project was in 2019 when he teamed up with Dre for Family Ties. with their smash hit "YES" with Cardi B & Anuel AA. Before that, Joe and Remy Ma delivered their joint album Plata o Plomo featuring their lead singles "All The Way Up" featuring French Montana and "Money Showers" with Ty Dolla $ign.
It's not clear whether Fat Joe will be joining forces with another artist or if he's dropping a solo project. If it's the latter, it will be his first standalone studio album since Darkside III arrived in 2013. Look out for Joe's new project arriving in August, but for now, stream "Outta Control" below.
