After climbing a historic Mayan temple in Mexico, a Polish man was assaulted by other tourists who were enraged.
Pawel Tomasz was detained on Saturday and kept for 12 hours at a Tinum, Yucatán, police station.
According to José Chab, director of the Yucatán National Institute of Anthropology and History, Tomasz was fined 5,000 Mexican pesos (about $263).
Tomasz was captured on camera descending the steps of the Temple of Kukulcán as the angry tourist yelled at him.
When one of the visitors seemed to punch Tomasz in the chest, two security personnel escorted Tomasz away.
A second tourist came up behind him as he was being escorted away and struck him on the head with a stick.
Security then intervened as Tomasz grabbed for his hurt head.
The Polish man was scolded by a passing tourist who asked him, "Are you stupid?" while pointing at the temple.
According to the National Institute of Anthropology and History, Tomasz had climbed the temple to "take photos and post them on social media" but was ordered to delete every single one of them.
