Per the ChicagoTimes, Jussie Smollett is still on a mission to get his 2021 conviction overturned. Back in 2019, Smollett claimed he was attacked by two men where he was beaten, poured bleach on, and had a noose put around his neck claiming they were Trump supporters. The video was shown of Smollett picking up the attackers and the staged location. As of Monday, Smollett has asked the Illinois Supreme Court to review an appellate ruling in his conviction for lying about a hate crime. "What should have been a straightforward case has been complicated by the intersections of politics and public outrage," Smollett's attorney wrote. Smollett has maintained his innocence.
