Per Deadline, Wendy Williams' guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, has filed a lawsuit against A+E Networks and eOne over the "Where Is Wendy Williams?" Lifetime Docuseries. The lawsuit claims that that Wendy was exploited by the producers and that she wasn't properly paid for the project - allegedly Williams was only paid $82,000 for the project. The lawsuit goes on to claim that Williams' signature on the eOne contract "does not appear to be genuine" and that there is "no evidence" that Williams signed the agreement. Another claim is that Williams was "incapacitated and unable to consent" at the time of the contract execution. Williams representatives had disclosed that Williams had been diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia.
Morrissey had initially tried to stop the airing of the documentary claiming that it was a "blatant exploitation of a vulnerable woman with a serious medical condition" and that the talk host had lacked mental capacity to enter a contract for the show. The judge initially granted the order, but then reversed the appeal.
A spokesperson for Lifetime and A+E has said they don't comment on lawsuits.
