According to Billboard, the American Music Award's 50th Anniversary aired a 2-hour special of the award show throughout the years and paid a tribute to the iconic and legendary singer Whitney Houston.
Jennifer Hudson got the opportunity to perform a medley of Houston's 1995 AMA's performance, pairing of "I Will Always Love You" and "I Love You Porgy."
This isn't the first time Hudson has delivered and outstanding performance in tribute for Whitney Houston. She honored the late singer the day after she past at the 2012 Grammys rendition of "I Will Always Love You."
When the AMA's aired, there was no hip-hop section until 1989. The first winners were DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince, who took home Favorite Hip-hop Artist and Best Album. Highlighting the importance and evolution of hip-hop throughout the years in a video montage featuring hip-hop stars including Cardi B, Jay Z, Nicki Minaj, Dr. Dre, and more. Nelly ended the hip-hop segment with his best hits performing along side Chingy, J-Kwon, and the St. Lunatics.
