According to the New York Times, Yolanda Saldivar, the woman who fatally shot Mexican American singer Selena, was denied parole after 30 years in prison. Saldivar was a member of Selena's fan club when she murdered the singer at just 23 years old. The Texas Board of Pardons and Parole began reviewing her case approximately six months ago, ultimately finding the violent nature of the killing a disqualifying factor in her getting parole. Saldivar will be eligible for parole in another 5 years.
