According to NBC 5 Chicago, the City of Chicago has installed 16 new speed cameras throughout the city, from Edgewater, to West Town, to Auburn Gresham. Warning notices without fines will last for the first 30 days, followed by a 14-day blackout period. Once that is over, anyone caught going six miles per hour over the limit will be fined $35, and anyone going 10 miles per hour over the limit will be fined $100. Many of these cameras are located near schools, as a part of the city's child safety zone program.
