According to VIBE, Mary J. Blige is being sued for $5 million by her longtime friend and stylist Misa Hylton for refusing to drop Vado's album until he cut ties with Hylton's management company M.I.S.A., who represented him at the time. Vado signed with M.I.S.A. in July 2023 and then to Blige's Beautiful Life Productions in October 2023. Hylton is alleging that Blige financially cornered Vado, saying she would not release his album as long as he was signed to M.I.S.A., leaving him unable to pay back advances tied to his record deal.
