According to ESPN, NASCAR is pausing its Chicago Street Race after fulfilling a three-year contract with the city. Held each July since 2022, the race’s future was uncertain. In a letter to Mayor Brandon Johnson, race president Julie Giese said NASCAR aims to collaborate with city officials to explore a new event weekend, improve logistics, and enhance the overall experience. The goal is to bring the race back in 2027 with a shorter setup time, a new date, and added tourism benefits for Chicago residents and visitors.
