According to ESPN, the WNBA All-Stars united in a collective demonstration, wearing black shirts with the words "Pay Us What You Owe Us" during warmups. As Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier was awarded the All-Star MVP Trophy by WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert, shouts of "pay them!" rang through the sold out Gainbridge Fieldhouse. This came two days after 40 players met with the WNBA organization to negotiate terms. The players left the meeting dissatisfied with the progress made, especially with a late October deadline approaching.
