Summer has barely started and already we're seeing tragedies of this sort. An O'Fallon, Ill., toddler was reported dead today after being found inside a car, where he was left for two hours.

The 23-month-old boy's father was reportedly loading him into the car to go to the park around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday but became distracted.

The boy's mother returned home at 5 p.m. to find the lifeless body of her son in the car.

Temperatures that day were in the 90s.

The father is currently in custody for child endangerment.
