CTA Increases Bus & Train Fees For Chicago!

The CTA raises the bus and train fee fares by 25 cents starting now! 

According to the Chicago Sun Times, ss for customers who might be upset about the increase, CTA President Dorval Carter said: “I understand their pain. This is not something that I wanted to do. It is not something that I had planned to do. I’ve gone nine years without having done this. No other transit system in the country has gone that long without raising their fares.”

Here's the new budget and prices for the CTA below:

Card fares will rise from $2 to $2.25 for bus passengers

Cash fares for bus riders will rise from $2.25 to $2.50

Card fares for trains (cash is not an option) will rise from $2.25 to $2.50

Monthly Ventra pass will rise from $100 to $105

Reduced fare rides (a half price option available to students and people with disabilities) will increase 10 cents for bus rides and 15 cents for train rides.
