Evanston Becomes First U.S. City To Approve Reparations for Black People

Evanston just became the first city in America to approve reparations for Black residents.

In a 8 to 1 vote by the City Council, Evanstaon will distribute $400,000 to eligible black households. Each household would receive $25,000 for home repairs or down payments on property. The initiative is being funded by a 3% tax on recreational marijuana. The city has promised to distribute $10million over a 10 year span.
